Ukraine has announced the commencement of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to enhance its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Battlefield Situations

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology has been tested in combat and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of manufacturing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president described Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and wicked” after six individuals were killed and dozens wounded in a series of night-time strikes across Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in the capital just after 12 AM this past Friday, with Shahed drones soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Zelenskyy reported the country was hit by 430 drones and multiple missiles. Those killed had been at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Objection Following Diplomatic Compound Damage

Azerbaijan announced it delivered a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative on Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Moscow's missile destroyed a section of the compound's boundary wall and resulted in significant destruction to the diplomatic compound, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry stated. No one was hurt, and a ministry spokesperson confirmed the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was continuing to operate.

Russian Aerial Bomb Manufacturing Sees Major Expansion

Russia plans to produce as many as 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said, including 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that is capable of targeting more towns and cities. Moscow's military were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with the previous month's average daily usage being about 170, according to official military statistics.

Kyiv's Strikes Focus on Moscow's Energy Infrastructure

Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments this past Friday – representing 2% of global supply – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its military had fired domestically produced missiles and deployed multiple kinds of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to diminish the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine separately targeted an oil refinery in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels during the night.

Global Restrictions Impact Russian Oil Producer

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers concerning its international holdings after recent sanctions from the UK and the US and failure of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal will be announced after the final agreements have been reached and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil commented.

Ukrainian President Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with deputies from all houses of the legislature throughout his stay, an official announcement said.
