Pep Guardiola has admitted experiencing "embarrassment" after an exchange with a TV crew member in the wake of the Citizens' 2-1 defeat away to the Magpies this past weekend.

When the match concluded, an emotional Guardiola entered the St James’ Park pitch and had heated discussions with the referee, Sam Barrott and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães, while also handling the broadcast crew's equipment.

"I said sorry," Guardiola stated. "I feel embarrassed, ashamed, when I see it. It's not acceptable. I immediately apologized to the cameraman. I am who I am. After 1,000 games I'm far from perfect, I make huge mistakes."

"What is for sure, I defend any team and my club, without a doubt. The reason why I support my squad is clear – because from my experience to clinch the title we need near-perfect totals, 98 points, otherwise we don’t win it."

City's Position and Guardiola's Assessment

City are third and trail leaders Arsenal by seven points following their fourth loss of the season. "Losing four games out of 12 means we must do better," he conceded. "Technically, we can to win everything."

The manager was asked if this meant the quadruple was a realistic aim, he responded: "You are an experienced journalist, have you ever heard me about the quadruple last winter when we won the quadruple? Never."

Exchange with Bruno

Regarding his confrontation with the Newcastle player, the coach explained: "I've known him for many years and post-match, home or away, we converse. We often meet and I always have a good relationship. I enjoy it. I’m an emotional guy, I like discussing and move my hands."

Guardiola would not be concerned should a rival coach addressed his squad immediately after a game. "Not if you talk with respect like I always have done, it's fine," he noted, mentioning the referee. "He was part of it throughout the match, he was involved. My God, very much so."

Controversial Decisions

The team felt aggrieved that the officials denied a spot-kick for a Fabian Schär challenge on Phil Foden, and doubted Bruno's positioning when Harvey Barnes scored the decisive strike. Pictures published later show he was level.

Upcoming Milestone

He will manage of his 100th Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday. "That's impressive, showing we compete annually," he commented.

City have 10 points after four games in the group, while Leverkusen have five.
