Orbital Imagery Indicate Iranian Navy and Nuclear Facilities Hit by Joint US and Israeli Strikes.

A wave of American and Israeli airstrikes has reportedly sunk or crippled no fewer than eleven Iranian naval vessels since the weekend, freshly analyzed orbital imagery reveal, with launch facilities and nuclear sites also sustaining hits.

Photographs of the southern Konarak naval base and the Bandar Abbas port installation, which sits on the strategic Hormuz Strait and contains the headquarters of the Iranian navy, show plumes of smoke rising from several warships on recent days.

Naval Fleet Sustained Substantial Damage

Included in the vessels destroyed was the IRINS Makran, the country's biggest warship which had functioned as a drone carrier. Satellite images showed thick smoke emanating from the vessel which had been stationed at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Analytical assessments indicate that no fewer than five vessels at the port were "struck or destroyed". Imagery of the southern part of the port reveal plumes ascending from the IRINS Makran, while another pair of ships are visibly damaged, with one seen burning.

At Konarak, images show multiple stricken ships, with expert review identifying damage to six vessels. Pictures taken on Monday also show that several buildings at the installation have been destroyed.

"For decades the Tehran government has harassed global maritime traffic," a senior US military official said. "Today, there is not one Iranian vessel underway in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Sea of Oman, and we will not stop."

A number of ships allegedly destroyed may have been concealed in satellite images by weather conditions or battle damage, or hit in open waters, and have not been independently verified. Separate reports indicated that a ship from Iran was foundering off the coast of Sri Lanka's territorial waters, leading to a rescue operation.

Rocket Sites and Atomic Locations Attacked

Neutralizing Iran's rocket sites and the hindering of atomic bomb programs were stated as other objectives of the offensive. Aerial imagery also showed impacts against the southern Khorgu and northwestern Tabriz missile facilities, and at the Konarak air air base, where weapons bunkers and bunkers were targeted.

At the Choqa Balk-e drone drone base to the west of the city of Kermanshah, widespread damage was observed to storage buildings, bunkers and unmanned aircraft systems.

Destruction was also observed at a radar installation at the Zahedan airbase in eastern parts of the country, close to the border with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Significantly, the most recent series of attacks have apparently hit installations at Natanz – considered at the core of Iran's atomic program. A global monitoring agency stated that the damaged buildings were used for access to the facility's underground nuclear plant and that "no nuclear fallout" was likely.

Wider Consequences and Analysis

Defense experts indicated that the offensive appeared to have "greatly reduced" the Iran's naval ability to sustain conventional attacks using its most significant vessels. However, it was emphasised that Tehran maintains the option to launch asymmetric warfare at sea through the use of drones, mini-submarines and its so-called "ghost fleet" of tankers.

The full scope of the damage caused to Iranian military infrastructure has yet to be fully assessed, with hostilities said to be persisting. Imagery also reveals considerable destruction to the command center of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city of Tehran.

A significant number of civilian buildings also are reported to have been struck in the capital city and throughout Iran since the conflict started. Casualty figures from local officials state that a high number of civilians may have been fatally injured in the attacks.

Amid continuing hostilities, review of aerial photographs will continue to document the evolving battlefield picture.
