Indeed, it's Packed with Gibberish, Extreme Hosting and Psychobabble. But I Do Adore Meghan's Holiday Special.

No concerned with the season, it's constantly hunting season for scrutiny on the Duchess of Sussex's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Reviewers, both professional and armchair, have seldom found such common ground as when eagerly tearing the lifestyle show's first and second seasons to shreds. The general consensus was that a more egregious regal scandal had never been witnessed than the much-discussed snack re-labeling incident.

Presently, like a merry renegade master, she makes a comeback once again with a "Christmas Special" (also known as a Christmas special). But this time, it's different. The standard components viewers are accustomed to – vague self-help platitudes, intense hospitality – are still present, but framed of a yuletide episode, suddenly it all makes sense. The elements have slid into place; it's a flawless festive blizzard.

By this point, Meghan has become the oddball family member at Christmas celebrations everywhere – dispensing random tips, and contributing the periodic peculiar declaration. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's an interesting figure, but her company is customary and oddly reassuring. And she appears content; she's inflicting any harm.

She is aware her every micro expression, utterance and look will be analyzed and criticised, but still appears carefree and serenely untroubled.

Perhaps this is the initial instance in history where that well-worn saying – "Pay no mind, it's only envy" – could actually be true. Because, you know what?, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration truly is delightful. Granted, it's all cringily ultra-extra, nonsense and over the top – but is that not just what Yuletide is about? And the words she speaks might be absurd, but the life she leads seems authentically impeccably styled.

Anything she attempts, she pulls off with style. Her recipes looks scrumptious, the holiday arrangement she makes is gorgeous, her gifts are nearly too beautiful to tear into. Nothing is ordinary or visually unappealing – even the way she ties her kitchen garment is stylish and elegant. She doesn't throw a dish in the microwave, it "takes a twirl", and she creases wrapping paper like an craft master. She also seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself the entire time. How could any skeptical viewer not be charmed, overcome by holiday spirit and left with a deep longing for handmade crackers or a crudites platter where broccoli is positioned in the form of a festive circle?

Meghan was once an actress for a living, of course, but nonetheless, after the degree of attention she has faced from the moment she met Prince Harry, even a hypothetical offspring of acting royalty would struggle to act this naturally. Her unwillingness to modify or even moderate her routine, despite it being so relentlessly, globally mocked, is weirdly comforting. In our uncertain world, here is one thing we can rely on: Meghan will stay true to form, no matter what. We will forever know where we are with her.

If you're remaining skeptical of what she's selling, a reminder that will undoubtedly come as a relief: you don't have to. We don't have mandatory conscription these days, and were it to return, it would be improbable to include watching With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you decide to tune in and are overcome with longing about her idyllic Christmas, you can take solace either. Whether you're a duchess or a office worker, hardly any child fully understands the effort and hard work their mother does in the holiday season. So you can find comfort by envisioning Archie and Lilibet's faces when they reveal a calligraphy note that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a homemade Advent calendar, in place of a sweet treat.
